There are two ways to play the MINI OPEN Ibiza: get invited or earn your invitation.

This October, we’re launching MINI TRIALS, the new qualifier that opens a path to the MINI OPEN for clubs, brands, businesses, communities and groups of friends with something to represent and a desire to play. 

From all the entries, we will select 12 teams, who will face off on October 9 at Ibiza Club de Campo, with Arturo Valls as the host of this inaugural edition.

Just to give you an idea: if you play MINI OPEN Tennis, you could end up across the net from teams representing La Revuelta, El Hormiguero, LaLiga, Primavera Sound, Brunch Electronik, Brain Dead, Heretics or Código Nuevo, or find yourself facing names like Björn Borg, Feliciano López, David Ferrer, Nicolás Almagro, Pablo Andújar, David Silva, Marcos Llorente, Borja Iglesias, Cecilio G, Roisin Murphy and many more.

That’s precisely the beauty of the MINI OPEN: you never quite know who you’ll be facing. Tennis, sport, music, brands, media and culture all sharing the same draw.

MINI TRIALS keeps that spirit alive, but with its own rules. A fast-paced, unconventional format that combines singles, doubles and the Heaven or Hell system. Two paths, a second chance here and there, and one truly important spot on the line.

THE PRIZE? The winning team will earn a direct Wild Card to play in the MINI OPEN Tennis Ibiza the following day, October 10. This isn’t simply about attending the event: it’s about entering the draw and experiencing the MINI OPEN from the inside.

In Ibiza, one of those teams could be yours. This time, there’s no need to wait for an invitation to come your way. You have to earn it on the court.

    Here’s what you need to know before putting your team together:

    1. What are the MINI TRIALS?

    They’re the gateway to the MINI OPEN Tennis. An open qualifier for new teams and communities, where 12 selected teams will compete for a Wild Card to play in the MINI OPEN Tennis Ibiza the following day.

    2. How many people do we need to form a team?

    A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 players. One team member must also take on the role of President / Captain, acting as the main point of contact with the organizers. The structure mirrors that of MINI OPEN teams, so the winner can join the Main Event directly.

    3. Do we have to cover our own travel and accommodation costs to participate?

    Yes. Participation in MINI TRIALS does not include flights, ferries, transportation or accommodation in Ibiza. Each team is responsible for arranging and covering its own travel and stay in order to compete in the Trials.

    4. Do I need to have a minimum level of tennis to participate?

    No. There is no specific minimum level required. At MINI OPEN, we’ve seen it all: from people who were practically just starting to play to former professionals. The interesting part is how you put your team together.

    Since the format combines singles and doubles, it usually helps to look for a certain balance: having at least one strong player alongside other team members who can compete, complement the team and bring personality can make a big difference. We’re not looking for four tennis machines; we’re looking for a team that makes sense both on and off the court.

    5. What if I take part in MINI TRIALS but don’t win? Can I still play in the MINI OPEN?

    MINI OPEN Tennis is an invitation-only event, but all MINI TRIALS participants will receive an invitation to join the full day and night programme, even if their team doesn’t win the Wild Card. Participation in the Main Event itself will be reserved for the winning team and the other invited teams.

    Can mixed teams or all-female teams participate?

    Absolutely. There are no gender restrictions. MINI OPEN features mixed, all-female and all-male teams. What matters is the team, its identity and the desire to play.

    7. Is there a minimum age to participate?

    Yes. All players must be over 18, as the winning team must be eligible to join the MINI OPEN Tennis Main Event and take part in the full event experience.

    8. Can I represent my bar, company or community?

    Yes. In fact, that’s part of the idea. You can represent a tennis club, restaurant, bar, hotel, brand, media outlet, festival, community or collective. MINI OPEN sees each team as a small community with its own identity.

    9. How will the 12 teams be selected?

    The organizers will consider the team’s creativity, personality, location, the community or business it represents, diversity, identity and fit with the MINI OPEN universe. Tennis ability matters, but it’s not the only criterion.

    10. Will there be more MINI TRIALS after Ibiza?

    Yes. Ibiza is the first edition. MINI TRIALS is designed as a repeatable format, with plans to announce new dates and cities for 2027, giving clubs and communities more time to build their teams and get ready to compete.
