MINI OPEN TENNIS ABRE UNA NUEVA PUERTA

The viernes 9 de octubre, en Ibiza Club de Campo, 12 equipos competirán por una única Wild Card para jugar el MINI OPEN Tennis Ibiza al día siguiente. No será una clasificación convencional: importa cómo se juega, pero también quién juega y qué representa cada equipo.

Esta edición inaugural contará con Arturo Valls como anfitrión y, si los rumores son ciertos, puede que incluso nos deleite con una de sus paellas.

Por hacernos una idea: si juegas un MINI OPEN Tennis, puedes acabar al otro lado de la red contra equipos como La Revuelta, El Hormiguero, LaLiga, Primavera Sound o Brunch Electronik; o frente a nombres como Xabi Prieto, Feliciano López, Cecilio G, David Ferrer, David Silva, Pato Clavet o Marcos Llorente.

MINI TRIALS NO BUSCA MÁQUINAS DEL TENIS

No hay un nivel mínimo. Cada equipo estará formado por tres o cuatro jugadores mayores de 18 años y podrá ser mixto, femenino o masculino. El formato combina individuales y dobles, por lo que ayuda buscar equilibrio, pero no buscamos necesariamente a los cuatro mejores tenistas: buscamos un equipo que tenga sentido dentro y fuera de la pista.

RELIVE MINI OPEN TENNIS MADRID 2026

Diego Calvo, founder and CEO of Concept Hotel Group, has spent years creating hotels and spaces that reinterpret Ibiza through design, music and entertainment.

We spoke with him about his relationship with tennis, the evolution of MINI OPEN, the world of Concept Hotel Group and his new vision for Ibiza nightlife with Nocturna.

1. What's your personal relationship with tennis, and what place does it hold in your daily life right now?

I grew up at Ibiza Club de Campo and played there between '85 and '98. My parents had a beautiful casa payesa — a traditional Ibizan farmhouse — 400 metres from the club, and my brother and I cycled over every day.

I remember pinning up magazine cut-outs of Gabriela Sabatini, Agassi and Kournikova. After 27 years I've picked up a racket again with my brother thanks to Mini Open, and now I play three or four times a week.

2. Tennis is going through a new boom that reaches beyond the courts and into fashion, design and culture. Why do you think it's happening now?

Everything classic comes back around, and tennis has a really appealing aesthetic. A lot of fashion brands are drawing on classic tennis looks right now.

3. MINI OPEN mixes sport, music, entertainment, fashion, brands and communities. What makes that formula work?

Mixing sport with culture and fun is wonderful — and even better when it's done with good taste. Part of the appeal is bringing people together on a really special day, in a way that's very different from how the people on the teams would normally meet.

4. How do you remember the birth of MINI OPEN, and when did you start to think it could become more than a tournament?

When Oscar and Iván suggested bringing the event to Ibiza alongside Concept Hotel Group, I loved it straight away. We have a very similar philosophy, so I fell for the idea immediately. I'm a big believer in looking for what sets things apart in the things I'm passionate about.

5. What is it about Ibiza that makes MINI OPEN fit so naturally?

Concept Hotel Group, haha. Mostly that it's an international destination with a steady flow of former tennis pros and famous faces from film, fashion and art.

6. Every Concept hotel has a universe of its own. How does a cultural reference become a hotel experience?

More than a universe of their own, each one has its own concept — the universe is the group of hotels as a whole. I'm a firm believer that hotels should have a story of their own to tell, and that they shouldn't just be hotels: they should always offer something more. In fact, the group's tagline is NOT JUST HOTELS.

7. If you had to match Concept's hotels to different types of MINI OPEN player, how would you pair them up?

8. Where is MINI OPEN right now, and where do you think it could grow?

It's in an incredible moment. In Ibiza, the change of club is going to take it up a level, and I think Oscar and Iván will end up exporting it to other cities around the world, because it's a hugely attractive project for brands and destinations. There's already more than just rumours…

9. What did you want to bring to Ibiza nightlife with Nocturna?

Our aim was to create a place where people who love Ibiza nights can enjoy a 300-capacity dance floor with no phones, interiors very much in keeping with our universe, and an incredible sound system with eclectic programming.
It'll be the ideal spot for the Mini Open closing party.

10. Nocturna is built around a phone-free dance floor. Did we need to relearn how to go out?

What we need is to learn how to switch off.

11. To finish: any advice for surviving that week in Ibiza?

Hydrate like crazy with DiLYTE.

Madrid 2026: when tennis stepped off the court once again

Before looking towards Ibiza, it was time to return to Madrid.

The latest edition of MINI OPEN TENNIS took place on 25 April 2026 at Club Internacional de Tenis de Madrid and confirmed something that had already been happening in previous editions: this isn't exactly a tournament, but it isn't exactly a festival either. It's something else.

A day where tennis crosses paths with music, fashion, gastronomy, brands, media, artists and a community that, for one day, swaps its usual spot for the clay court.

Madrid 2026 brought together 51 teams, 183 players and more than 110 matches in a day that surpassed 5,000 attendees. Beyond the court, the edition consolidated the project's digital and media growth, with more than 19 million press impressions and 89 media appearances.

The event had the backing of a broad ecosystem of partners. Adidas Originals participates as official partner and Mahou Cinco Estrellas as the official beer, along with collaborators such as DiLYTE, Alfa Romeo, HEAD, Madrid Secreto, Baviera, Kaiku Kéfir Plus, Ecovidrio, Niche Beauty Lab, Lacoste Perfumes, La Marzocco, Trade Republic, Brunch Electronik, Jungle, LVBL and DICE.

On court, the Mni Open Shop team ended up lifting the Madrid 2026 title, a reminder that, although tennis may be the excuse, people also come here to compete.

But beyond the numbers and the final result, Madrid mattered for what was experienced around it: teams with their own identity, matches that seemed like excuses to bring different worlds together, brands activating from inside the event, an increasingly recognizable community and a musical programme throughout the day, closing with the special set by DJ Seinfeld on the centre court after the final.

A meeting point for people who move between creativity, sport, music, fashion and lifestyle.

50 teams, 200 competitors, more than 10 simultaneous courts and a schedule full of activations, prize draws and lots of music for a day to remember.

On April 25th, the Club Internacional de Tenis de Madrid will transform into much more than a tennis club: it will be the meeting point for brands, artists, creatives, athletes, media and communities that understand sport as a form of cultural connection. Following its previous editions in Madrid and Ibiza, the 2026 edition represents a major leap in professionalization, structure and ambition.

With 50 teams, 200 competitors, more than 10 active courts, live music, brand activations, a VIP area, an afterparty and a production designed as a complete experience, MINI OPEN doesn't revolve solely around the competition, but around the community.

1. THE Concept

It's a reinterpretation of amateur tennis where each team represents an identity, a community and a way of understanding contemporary culture.

Here, brands, media, creative collectives, artists, athletes and friends compete, turning the court into an extension of their own universe.

Tennis is the excuse. The community is the true goal.

2. The Location — Madrid as a meeting point

The 2026 edition takes place in Madrid, establishing the city as the epicenter of this community that blends sport, culture and lifestyle.

The Club Internacional de Tenis de Madrid will be the setting that brings together more than 10 active courts, a players' area, swimming pool, hospitality, VIP space, DJ booth, brand activations and a center court designed as the visual and sporting heart of the event.

It's not just a venue: it's an experience built around tennis.

3. The Format — 50 teams, a single day and a grand final

MINI OPEN is played over a single day.

50 teams are split into 10 groups of 5 teams, in an initial round robin phase followed by a knockout final phase.

Qualifying:
– The winners of each group
– The 6 best runners-up

In total, 16 teams advance to the round of 16.

Each match between teams is played to the best of 3 sets:
– Set 1: Singles
– Set 2: Doubles
– Set 3: Singles

During the group stage:
– Tie-break to 8
– Golden point
– Maximum 40 minutes per match

From the round of 16 to the final:
– Super tie-break to 10
– No time limit

4. The Previous Editions

MINI OPEN has grown quickly in a very short time.

The first edition was born in Madrid in 2024, establishing a new way of understanding amateur tennis through culture and community.

Then came a second edition in Madrid, confirming that the concept had legs and a real community behind it.

The expansion continued with the Ibiza edition, taking the project to a new, more lifestyle-oriented context and reinforcing the idea that MINI OPEN is not just a tournament, but a platform.

In 2026, the calendar takes another step forward:

• Madrid — April 25th

• Ibiza — October 2026

• Grand Final — location to be announced

The goal is no longer a single event, but building a community.

5. The Awards

Beyond the sporting title, MINI OPEN keeps an important part of its identity in the parallel awards that are part of the event's spirit.

Mini Open Tennis, your favorite artist's favorite tournament, returns for the third consecutive year with its biggest edition yet and the essential names in sports, culture, music and fashion. On 25 April, from 10 am to midnight, the Club Internacional de Tenis de Majadahonda will once again host one of Madrid's most talked-about events. An experience that is practically a festival, putting the spotlight on community, lifestyle and the visibility of contemporary urban culture.

Organized by Minishop, this third edition will feature 51 teams (compared to 32 last year) made up not only of professional players, but also celebrities, artists, creative collectives, brands and media outlets. An amateur tournament where competition becomes a creative space of collective identity and a dynamic showcase of trends and aspirational universes. Cultural agents from today's scene will turn into elite tennis players on a day featuring names such as Primavera Sound, DICE, Códigonuevo, fffea, 25 Gramos, Lesbian Garros, Highxtar, Casa Axis, Out!, Heretics, Bagel, Habemus Roma, Casa Tabacos, Concept Hotel Group, LA LIGA Retro or the Róisín Murphy Raquet Team. The international electropop star will not be the only singer present this edition. As in every edition of Mini Open Tennis, music takes on great importance with the presence of groups such as Cupido, Por las noches or the Mainline collective (Yung Prado, Daniel 2000…) who will swap the stage for the tennis court.

The music industry isn't represented only by artists; the tournament is also joined by record labels like Mushroom Pillow or parties that are revolutionizing the city's scene, such as Pogo or Brunch Electronik. The Mini Open Tennis lineup also features leading figures from other cultural industries like actors, journalists and influencers of the caliber of Lucía de la Puerta or Vital Villarubia. The increasingly close relationship between sport and fashion also resonates at the tournament with the participation of renowned fashion brands such as Brain Dead, Little Spain Late Checkout. Sport joins the world of creativity, music, clubbing and communication, also featuring elite athletes such as 2010 World Cup winner Fernando Llorente, former Real Madrid footballer and LA LIGA commentator Miguel Torres, Valencia C.F. goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski or tennis players Paco Clavet, Laura Gibanel, Pablo Andujar and Nico Almagro, renowned for having one of the best one-handed backhands of his generation.

Beyond the matches, the event offers a complete experience with performances, concerts, brand activations and DJ sets. Brunch Electronik will take part with a very special show by Sweden's Dj Seinfield, one of the most representative names in contemporary house, who will perform from 10:30 pm to close out the day. And for those who aren't going home after a tournament, the electronic music festival is also organizing the afterparty at The Bassement Club, with a doubles set by Ben Sterling and Beltran.

Tickets are free but can only be obtained through an invitation. Tournament guests have the option to donate to the NGO TennisAid, which since 2014 has fostered integration through sport by promoting tennis in disadvantaged areas around the world.
